Standing on a hill top overlooking the landscape of sand dunes and bushes while the sun beams down on my face. This is the image I get in my head whenever I think of the high-veld. My #FlashbackFriday memory is of my recent travels to Limpopo province. I stayed at a resort in Bela-Bela. An area know for it’s natural warm underground water springs. This was my my experience and hope you get drawn into the wild with me.
The start of a day in the bushveld is welcomed by the smell of bacon sizzling away in a pan. After the peaceful nights sleep, you tie your hiking shoes and head out. Most resorts or camps have marked hiking routes to walk along. Also check the route and duration before heading out and always take water along!
After a hour or two of walking, an afternoon nap is a high priority. If you are not one for resting there is a wide variety of activities in the Bela-Bela like; fishing, a round of Golf or even zip-lining with the crew from Waterberg Zipline, Myself on the other hand, I happily settled for horseback riding.
Please do NOT feed the monkeys, no jokes!
The sun sets over the horizon and I’m settling in with a glass of Nederburg Riesling. The best is just sitting in front of a crackling fire and listening to the sounds around you. The perfect end to a weekend in Bela-Bela.
If you are planning a trip to Limpopo or want to plan I trip in the near future. I listed 5 of the top-rated resorts in the area where you can stay.
