All you need is love. But a little chocolate now and then doesn’t hurt.
– Charles M. Schulz
Valentine’s day is overrated!
But with that said, you do still feel special if you receive flowers from a special someone or a box of delectable chocolates. In my case I received both, so I was pretty happy! 🙂 The best way to treat my better half was with a delicious meal ’cause let’s face it. He won’t like flowers.
Usually we do a picnic on the beach, but this year we opted for the vineyards. I decided to take him to the quiet little farm called Phizante Kraal on the Durbanville Wine Route.
Valentine’s Day Brunch
It was meant to be a bright and sunny day for a picnic on the beautiful green lawns and it was, until the wind picked up! Seeing that it was too windy to sit outside we were seated inside on a long rustic farm table. The restaurant is a classic old barn with simplistic interior that together create a cosy ambience.
Valentine’s Menu
The Valentine’s picnic basket we ordered was R300 per couple and included the following;
- Small flat breads with Chorizo & boiled egg
- Grilled chicken skewers
- Fresh garden salad (So good!)
- Pasta en pesto salad
- Fresh homemade doughnuts and meringue
- A bottle of Phizante Kraal Chenin Blanc’14
Now that is a bargain!
The next time you are in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town. Make sure to find this wine farm and take some time to sit down and enjoy a glass of wine and the delicious food at the Phizante Kraal restaurant.
